Paul,

Whatever the merits of a merger, even a larger, regional one you missed an important point. Can the LEP’s do this themselves?

My understanding is that the LEP’s were set up by the national (English) government and all their founding is via HM Treasury etc. One wonders if the “dead hand” of Whitehall would want to see a merger.

WTF! Excuse my French but these people obviously have not been in the same situations with their home life and the difficulties in which we all face. They need an eye opener!
